Transforming numbers into visual data to making findings more accessible has a major impact or how the reader takes in information. Articles with visual data are more interesting and makes the story interactive. Being able to click on a video and learn about more information on the subject is a nice feature to have. In the article “The True Cost of Gun Violence in America” the first thing that stood out to me was the black and white pictures in the heading. It connects more sources for the information provided and features links to other stories. A chart was also provided to give the readers actual numbers regarding the topic. With the visual data. In my opinion it is aesthetically pleasing to the eye and very organized.
It’s really easy to understand or gain better understanding of the information provided because you are given so many different sources to learn from in one place. People take in information differently , so with videos, text, and charts provided it gives everyone a way to enjoy the information. In ” See Maps Showing Where FBI Planes Are Being Watched Above”, it has a graphic of a map where the reader can move it to see the different times, with different colors to differentiate locations. It also describes a step by step process of whats on the plan with pictures showing their location the plane.
The article on Dawn, as soon as I opened the article, being able to visually see every victim definitely made me experience a sense of emotion. It also provides tabs to see the different age ranges of the victims and survivors. The background was black so every picture posted stood out and the words jumped out at you. The information is laid out very organized ans straight to the point. They did a great job of providing information.
