My Time Thus Far At Howard University

For my final project in Visual Communications I decided to do a timeline on my time at Howard University. The moments I displayed were the ones that I captured throughout the year. There were moments I wish I had footage of but they say the best moments aren’t captured.  Transferring to Howard was one of the best decisions I made, so being able to display precious moments was fulfilling.

I loved doing this project because I was able to learn a new skill that I could use in future. When first learning the steps of a visual timeline I was confused. But after Professor Patton went over it again I started to understand. I appreciate that she took her time and made sure everyone was on one accord.  I hope as I expand my media skills I can use this in the future. Although Covid-19 prevented us from doing the original final project, I’m glad Professor Patton still found a way for us to tell a story and be creative. This semester, I was finally able to be in my major classes and it’s highlighted how Journalism is very versatile. This has inspired me to get into graphics and videography because I never wanted to be stagnant. This class has made me realize why I chose to be a Journalism major.

Making this timeline, really allowed me to take a step back and reflect on my time at Howard. I wished I would’ve appreciated my time there and certain moments more. Especially when it comes to exploring D.C. I remember that was also one thing I learned from this class, was to take everything in around you. It’s so easy to get caught up in your own life that you miss out on things in front of you. I can’t wait to show how much I’ve grown from this class through my future endeavors and projects.

Words can’t say how appreciative I am to be able to learn and grow from this class and I hope you enjoy my timeline through Howard and my other projects. I look forward to adding to my blog continuously and keeping people engaged.
